Amanda Ellis McCabe
Chef & Owner, The Charlestown GourmetI was born into a “foodie” family. In the 60’s and 70’s my mothers free time was spent reading cookbooks and learning the art of French cooking. (Jacques Pepin and Julia Childs were the pioneers and her go-to cookbooks). She practiced her skills with lavish dinner parties and she became a gourmet legend among her circle of friends. Needless to say I was the kitchen mouse, always hanging around watching, tasting and stirring. I loved the happy vibe and the smells of the kitchen and still do!
After College, my culinary life in restaurants started. From Nantucket to New York I waited tables, cooked, met world class chefs and began to dream of a cooking as a career. Thanks to friends and employers I was confident! I soon moved back to Boston to start a private chef business. I then launched “The Pinckney Gourmet” and enjoyed 12 successful years.
I then met my Irish husband, Sean on a culinary trip to Spain. The first four years of my marriage I lived in Co. Kildare Ireland where I learned many styles of European cooking and took classes in France and Spain. We moved back to Massachusetts in 2011 and I now live Charlestown and I am apply named “The Charlestown Gourmet”.
I love my relationship with my clients and the creativity I can express through my cooking, meal and event planning and table settings. So after many good years in Beacon Hill and four years honing my skills in Ireland I’m more passionate about my career then ever!
I am always learning new recipes and I’m ready to cook!
Many Thanks & Cheers!
